In 2011, the Austrian Energy Agency counted among its approximately 50 members the federal government, the nine federal provinces, important enterprises from the fields of energy industry and energy engineering, banks, interest groups, scientific organisations, energy agencies and consulting companies. This diversified structure is an essential prerequisite for independence and at the same time guarantees a good balance between theoretical scientific background and practical approach.

The Austrian Energy Agency develops strategies for sustainable and secure energy supply, provides advice and training, and is the networking platform for the energy industry.

Climate active, the climate protection initiative launched by The Austrian Ministry for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology (BMK) is managed by the Austrian Energy Agency and coordinates the various measures in the areas of mobility, energy saving, construction & renovation and renewable energy.

AEA provides scientifically founded advice for decision-makers in politics, business and administration – both nationally and internationally. As a competence centre for energy AEA concentrates on three strategic areas: "mission zero", transformation and smart energy.
Focusing on mission zero the Austrian Energy Agency pursues the long-term objective of building a fossil-fuel free future through strategy development und the implementation of concrete measures. The Austrian Energy Agency employs a staff of around 84 people including secretarial support and has 8.5 million Euros annual turnover.

IsZEB - Intelligent Solutions for Zero and Positive Energy Building

CERTH

IsZEB is the Linked Third Party of CERTH that will undertake specific efforts for the scientific research around building smartness and EPCs and support the market outreach and the dissemination/communicatiion activities of the project.

IsZEB is a cluster of companies that have vast experience in both basic as well as applied research. By bringing together research and industrial stakeholders, IsZEB is able to support extended and market-oriented high TRL scientific results, based on real-life needs of SMEs and industrial key players in the energy and construction sectors. With it’s focus on smart buildings, as active building blocks of the new smart grid paradigm, IsZEB aims to go beyond current certifications and provide dynamic certificates that combine energy and smart characteristics. This is expected to enable such entities with a variety of digitised ancillary services that will empower them to participate in multiple new markets, including the opportunities deriving from the smart grid and the recently introduced energy communities. Combining both the experience and the state-of-the-art knowhow, IsZEB will support CERTH, and through that D^2EPC, but providing valuable market-driven insight to the various project aspects, complementing business-related aspects, while enriching further dissemination and exploitation activities. IsZEB aligns perfectly with the D^2EPC objectives and can enrich significantly the activities around SRI and EPCs, while also actively contributing in both dissemination and exploitation activities, by introducing valuable insight from industrials stakeholders as well as leveraging promotion opportunities deriving from its ecosystem. In particular, IsZEB will support the project as a partner within WP1, WP2, WP3, WP6, WP7, and WP8 activities.
